Jackson Robert

Well, it's been two months since Jackson was born. He has definitely changed since the above picture which was him straight out of the womb and not too happy.

Maybe one of the biggest surprises was that Jackson not only had a full head of hair but it showed signs of being red!!! I personally call it auburn, but regardless, it is beautiful.

Personally, I think this is the cutest picture ever! It could be in a freaking baby magazine.

Bobby was great while we were in the hospital, he provided everything from a finger to suck on to diaper changing. He even changed most of Jackson's clothes.

Other than feeding him, which is a task unto itself, all I could really do the first couple of days was hold him. That was alright with me.

Lucky for us, Kaydi was able to stick around for a couple of days and provide some much needed relief to the rookie parents. Poor Jackson had to get an IV on the third day because he ran a fever. Fortunately, everything turned out okay.

I still can't believe how little he was!

On our third day I was feeling well enough to move to the chair and I even dressed Jackson in his first outfit. I love his tiny bum.

He definitely looks like his Dad when he's sleeping.

After having had a C-section combined with Jackson's fever, we were in the hospital for six days and five nights!!! Way too long. We were both feeling better and ready to go home.

I was ready to get Jackson dressed in his cute sleeper and take him to his permanent residence.

The Big Day

Jackson has been such a blessing ever since he made his arrival on March 31, 2009. Labor and surgery weren't fun, but it was definitely worth it. Here are some pictures that will give you an idea of how things went that incredible day!

We arrived at the hospital a little after 10:00 a.m. and soon after I was admitted. It was the real thing! Unfortunately the smiles didn't last too long...

Our room was actually quite comfy and even came with a nice panda picture.








We were lucky enough to have a room with a partial view of the Lake and an inviting bathroom.


Good thing for me, I wasn't alone. My support crew was great and I couldn't have done it without them! Both Bobby and Kaydi did everything they could to make sure Jackson and I were going to come out okay.

Bobby was even cogniscent enough to wear appropriate attire!











As the day progressed, so did the pain!

Thank goodness for the drugs!

As my contractions became stronger and closer, Jackson's heart rate began to dip so the doctors put me on some oxygen. It wasn't fun trying to deep breathe through that mask.

After some intense pain, an epidural, severe back labor, a little bit of throw-up, more drugs, and close to 14 hours I wasn't doing so hot. We arrived at the hospital at 10 a.m. and by midnight I had dialated to 9cm but was still not ready to push. Talk about frustrating!

When my doctor finally made it back to check my progress he had decided that a cesarean section was the safest route for Jackson's arrival. Although I wasn't too excited, I was definitely ready to meet my little guy:)

So that was it!! I was off to surgery at 1:20 a.m.. Meanwhile...Bobby was getting scrubbed down in preparation for the operating room. Despite being a bit fatigued he was also ready to meet Jackson.

Thanks to the anesthesiologist, surgery wasn't bad at all. I couldn't feel a thing and before you knew it I heard what we had been waiting for...Jackson's first cry was the best sound in the whole world. What I heard next was the big surprise..."he's a red head!" I could hardly wait to see him. It felt like an eternity before he was actually brought over. His full head of hair and precious little face were priceless.

Bobby's smile said it all, our little guy was finally here!!! His official birthweight was 7lbs 14oz. He was 21 inches long and born at 1:50am on March 31st!

I could finally hold him in my arms...it was amazing.

Meet the Family

The Brush family resides in the quaint town of Longview, WA. Our time here equates to a little over a year and we are enjoying a slower paced life with no traffic and easy access to the grocery store. One of our favorite things to do is hang out and take walks at beautiful Lake Sacajawea which, lucky for us, is right out the front door.

As of now, our family is comprised of five. There's me, Bobby, Jackson, Chewy, and Abby. Jackson is our newest addition and you can see much more of him on his post. Bobby is my spectacular husband and, as I've recently discovered, an awesome Dad. His passions, other than us of course, are officiating basketball and investing in real estate. Who can't love a smile like that?

Jackson is growing like a weed and will soon be two months. He is cuter than ever! He loves to eat, swing, sleep and stare at the wall. Those smiles sure do look alike.

Next up we have our son in a fur coat. Chewy has been with us for 2 1/2 years and is definitely a force to be reckon with. He loves his ball, will beg shamelessly, and sits after yelling the command five times. But, his big brown eyes will melt you in a second, and like Bobby and Jackson has a contagious smile:)

Last but not least is the beast. Also known as Abby. Abby came to us via the Palm Springs street fair followed by a 20 hour drive home. Maybe that explains some of her craziness. As off the wall as she can be, she is still precious and as human as can be. She loves to run around the lake, flush out birds, harass her cousin Zoe, and give hugs.
